Scripture for the blind people in Armenia

In Ashtarak a member of the Bible Society in Armenia Arshavir visited an old factory that had once provided work for hundreds of blind people. Now only two blind women work in a room of the old factory.

One of the workers name is Siran. She is very excited when she receives the Book of Proverbs in Braille from Arshavir. She immediately starts to read in Proverbs chapter one: “To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding…”

“How wonderful, that you published the Book of Proverbs”, she exclaims.

“I have an idea”, she says. She takes out her cell phone from her pocket and switches on the audio version: “To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding”.

“We long to have the whole Bible in an audio version…” Siran says. Other blind people have voiced this wish for an audio Bible as well.

The Bible Society in Armenia regularly visits schools for children, who are blind. Recently in one school, a boy with the name of Hovhannes who is ten years old, asked for the Gospel of Luke in Braille. He said that he had already received stories from the Old Testament in Braille from the Bible Society. The Gospel of Luke in Braille was sent to him.

It was encouraging to hear a girl named Syuzi read from the Book of Proverbs. She smiled while she was reading.

The Bible Society of Armenia listens to the needs of the blind people. They have published 6 books of the Bible in Braille and one book in Giant Print for people with visual disability.

Please pray for these wonderful people in Armenia that they will find comfort in the Word of God. If you want to support this project in Armenia, please click here!
